This paper by Babette Allina provided a quick and easy read about the history and development of STEAM education. It also included a list of guidelines for a high-quality STEAM program which has helped shape the way I approach unit planning.

Innovating with STEAM in middle school classrooms: remixing education

Case studies and observations of  educators who participated in graduate courses related to STEAM and how they implemented the concepts into their own teaching situations. The idea of "remixing" tried and true methodologies instead of coming up with completely new ones helps make the STEAM approach feasible and adaptable for all educators.
